The truth of Patanjali Electric Scooter: News of a new electric scooter from Patanjali is going viral on the internet these days, in which it is being claimed that this scooter gives a great range of 440 km on a single charge and its price is only ₹ 14,000. This claim itself seems unbelievable, especially when Patanjali is known for Ayurvedic products, not automobiles. The viral news mentions features of the scooter like detachable lithium-ion battery, 4-5 hours of charging time, top speed of 60 km/h and 75-80 kg weight. However, these claims are far from reality. Even the highest range electric scooter in India gives a range of only around 250 km, and for that too a very big battery is needed; a range of 440 km is technically almost impossible for a scooter. At the same time, the price of ₹ 14,000 is less than a good smartphone, while the battery of the electric scooter itself is very expensive. Patanjali has no experience in the automobile sector, and even the world’s biggest automobile companies have not been able to develop such technology at such a low cost. Reliable websites like Jansatta, gujarati.indianexpress.com and The Financial Express have termed this news as fake and a rumour, and X (formerly Twitter) has also denied it. It seems like this news was an April Fool’s Day prank that went viral in May. So, until there is an official announcement from Patanjali, do not believe this news and always check such sensational news from reliable sources.
