The Indian two-wheeler market saw a big change in April 2025. Hero MotoCorp, which always remained at the top, has slipped to the fourth position this time. At the same time, Honda has regained the number one position. TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto have also performed well and got second and third place respectively.
Why did Hero’s sales suddenly fall so much? The company says that they had stopped work for a few days to fix some repairs and production in their four manufacturing plants. Due to this their sales decreased.
Let us look at the two-wheeler sales figures of April 2025 in this blog and know how the major companies performed and what new trends are being seen in the market.

April 2025: Who sold how many vehicles?
In April 2025, Honda, TVS and Bajaj did well, but Hero MotoCorp suffered losses. Let’s look at the sales figures of these four companies:
- Honda: Became number one
Honda performed brilliantly in April 2025 and sold a total of 4,80,896 vehicles. Out of this, 4,22,931 vehicles were sold in India and 57,965 vehicles were exported. Honda’s sales in India grew by 42.2% compared to April 2024 last year, and exports saw a huge jump of 70%!
Honda’s scooters like Activa and 100-125cc motorcycles like Shine 125 and SP 125 are selling well. The company has also recently launched a new version of Dio 125 with new features. Also, their CB350 series has also been introduced in new colors. Honda has also recalled some CB300R vehicles manufactured between 2018-2020 keeping safety in mind.
- TVS Motor: At number two, great performance
TVS Motor sold a total of 4,43,896 vehicles in April 2025. Of these, 3,27,016 vehicles were sold in India and 1,16,880 vehicles were exported. TVS’s total sales have increased by 15.71% over the previous year, and also increased by 7.04% over the previous month. Their sales in India have increased by 7.89% and exports by 45.18%.
TVS scooters like Jupiter and Ntorq, and motorcycles like Raider 125 and Apache are being well liked. Apart from this, the demand for their electric scooter iQube is also increasing. The company’s export strategy is also working very well, due to which it has reached the second position. In the electric two-wheeler segment also, TVS had the highest market share (22%) in April 2025.
- Bajaj Auto: At third place, performance remained stable
Bajaj Auto sold a total of 3,65,810 vehicles in April 2025. Whereas in April 2024 last year, they sold 3,88,256 vehicles, that is, this time their sales have decreased by 6%. Talking about two-wheelers only, they sold 3,17,937 units, which is 7% less than last year’s 3,41,789 units. Their sales in India declined by 13% (1,88,615 units), but exports increased by 4% (1,29,322 units).
Bajaj’s Pulsar 125, Pulsar NS series and Chetak electric scooter supported the company. They also recently launched the world’s first CNG motorcycle, Freedom 125, which is seeing growing demand. Bajaj’s export business in Latin America is doing well, although exports have declined by 10% due to currency problems in African countries.
- Hero MotoCorp: Slips to fourth position
April 2025 was not good for Hero MotoCorp. They sold a total of 3,05,406 vehicles, which is 43% less than the 5,33,585 vehicles sold in April 2024. Their sales in India stood at 2,88,524 units, which is 44% less than last year’s 5,13,296 units. Their sales have also declined by 43% compared to the previous month.
Hero has attributed this decline to a four-day work shutdown at its four plants to repair and fix production. Apart from this, low demand in the commuter motorcycle segment is also a reason for the decline in their sales, as Hero sells the most vehicles in this segment. However, Hero has recently launched new models like Xtreme 125R, Xpulse 210 and Mavrick 440, which may appeal to the youth.
Indian two-wheeler market: What’s going on?
Some special things were seen in the two-wheeler market in April 2025. Honda and TVS dominated the scooter segment. At the same time, TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar 125 and Honda Shine 125 performed well in the 125cc motorcycle segment. In the electric two-wheeler segment, TVS sold the most (19,736 units), while Bajaj Chetak had a market share of 20%.
The decline in Hero’s sales also shows that perhaps the demand for commuter bikes in villages is decreasing. Experts believe that if the economy of villages improves and the festive season arrives, Hero’s sales may increase again, because most of their sales happen in the second half of the year.
What could happen next?
- Honda: Along with keeping its hold in scooters and 125cc bikes, it is now thinking of moving ahead in the premium motorcycle segment as well.
- TVS: TVS is strengthening its position in the market by focusing on electric vehicles and exports.
- Bajaj: With CNG motorcycles and premium Pulsar range, Bajaj is targeting youth and environmentally conscious customers.
- Hero: With new models and expected increase in demand in villages, Hero will soon try to regain its lost position.
