Hyundai car sales status:

  • Hyundai Creta: Hyundai’s best-selling car Creta remained at number 1 this month too! In April 2025, Creta sold 17,016 units, which is 10% more than last year. However, if compared to March 2025, its sales have decreased slightly. Nevertheless, the Creta has been performing well this year and it also became India’s best-selling car in April.
  • Hyundai Venue: Venue’s sales have seen a decline this time. In April 2025, 7,953 units were sold, which is 13% less than last year. Compared to March 2025, its sales have declined significantly. The good news is that Hyundai is preparing to bring a new model of Venue, which may be launched by the end of this year.
  • Hyundai Exter: Exter’s sales have also declined significantly, by about 30%! Only 5,416 units were sold in April 2025, while in the same month last year this figure was 7,756 units. Due to competition from Tata Punch and Maruti Suzuki Franx, the demand for Exter has reduced slightly.
  • Hyundai Grand i10 and i20 Elite: Sales of both these small cars have also decreased. Grand i10 sold 4,137 units, which is 19% less than last year. Whereas only 3,525 units of i20 Elite were sold, which is 32% less than last year.
  • Hyundai Aura and Verna: The condition of sedan cars was also not good. Aura sold 4,224 units, which is 7% less than last year. And only 1,005 units of Verna were sold, which is 36% less than last year.
  • Hyundai’s expensive cars: Hyundai’s premium cars also performed poorly. Alcazar sold 1,017 units, which is 17% less than last year. Only 65 units of Tucson were sold, which is 68% less than last year! Only 16 units of electric car Ioniq 5 were also sold.

Way forward:

Hyundai has launched the electric model of Creta this year, which has performed well. The company is now focusing more on hybrid and electric vehicles. It is reported that Hyundai is also going to launch new models of Venue and Alcazar by the end of 2025. Apart from this, the company is also working on increasing the production of Creta EV in Chennai, which can have a range of up to 450 km. Hyundai aims to manufacture 1.5 million vehicles per year in India by 2028.

In April 2025, Hyundai’s SUVs (Creta, Venue, Xter) accounted for about 71% of its total sales, which shows how much people are liking SUVs. However, the decline in sales of hatchbacks and sedans is a matter of concern.

Conclusion:

April 2025 was a mixed month for Hyundai. While the Creta performed well and became the best-selling car, sales of the Venue, Xcent, i10, i20, Aura and Alcazar were low. Expensive cars like the Tucson and Ioniq 5 also did not sell much, which shows that the demand for expensive and electric cars in India is still a bit low. Hyundai will now have to make a new strategy for its small and sedan cars, and also focus on electric and hybrid vehicles to maintain its hold in the market.
