6 Min Read

Triumph is preparing to launch another great bike in India, named Scrambler 400XC. This will be a new version of their already existing Scrambler 400X. During testing, some information about this bike has come to light, which shows that it will compete with bikes like Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure X. Let’s know about the possible price, features and advantages of this bike:

What will be the price and when will it be launched?

According to reports, the price of Triumph Scrambler 400XC can be around ₹ 25,000 to ₹ 30,000 more than the current Scrambler 400X. Currently, the Scrambler 400X is priced at ₹2.66 lakh (ex-showroom) in Delhi, while the new 400XC could be priced between ₹2.91 lakh and ₹2.96 lakh (ex-showroom). Some dealers have even started booking it! It is expected that this bike will be launched in the third week of May 2025 and its delivery can start from June 2025.

What are the new changes and how will the design be?

Some changes have been made in the Scrambler 400XC that make it different from the Scrambler 400X, such as:

  • Cross-spoke wheels: These will have tubeless tyres, which can be easily repaired if punctured.
  • Metal bash plate: This will protect the engine and the bottom part in off-road riding.
  • High fender: It will be in the body colour and will protect the bike from mud and dust.
  • Flyscreen: There will be some protection from the wind on the highway.
  • New colors and graphics: New designs and colors will be used to give it a more premium look.

The design of the bike will be a mix of retro and modern, with a round LED headlight, wide handlebars and exhaust on the side. This bike will be good for city roads as well as light off-road routes.

How will be the engine and performance?

The Scrambler 400XC will have the same 398.15cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 39.5 bhp of power and 37.5 Nm of torque. It will get a 6-speed gearbox and slip-and-assist clutch. Talking about mileage, it can give around 26-28 kmpl, which is fine for city and highway. This engine also complies with BS6 Phase 2 rules. However, some people say that it can get a little hot on long rides. Suspension and Braking:

The Scrambler 400XC will get the same suspension and braking system as the Scrambler 400X:

  • Suspension: 43 mm USD forks at the front (150 mm travel) and pre-load adjustable mono-shock at the rear (150 mm travel).
  • Braking: 320 mm disc at the front (4-piston caliper) and 230 mm disc at the rear (single-piston caliper).
  • Electronics: Dual-channel ABS (rear ABS can be switched off) and switchable traction control.
  • Ground Clearance: 195 mm, which is fine for mild off-road riding, but less than the Himalayan 450 (230 mm).

This setup is good for city, highway and mild off-road riding, but may not be as good as the KTM 390 Adventure X on tough off-road trails.

Features and technology:

The Scrambler 400XC will have the same features as the Scrambler 400X, but some new features can also be found:

  • Semi-digital instrument cluster
  • LED lighting (headlight, taillight and indicators)
  • USB charging port
  • Hand guards
  • Ride-by-wire

Some people find the headlight of the Scrambler 400X less bright at night, it is expected that this shortcoming will be overcome in the new model.

Who will compete with?

Scrambler 400XC will compete directly with these bikes:

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: Price ₹2.85 lakh (ex-showroom), 452cc engine, 40 bhp power, 30 kmpl mileage and 230 mm ground clearance. It is better for difficult off-road. KTM 390 Adventure X: Priced at ₹2.91 lakh (ex-showroom), 373cc engine, 43 bhp power, 227 mm ground clearance and 5-inch TFT display. It offers more power and off-road capability.

The expected price and features of the Scrambler 400XC make it a good option, especially for those who like style and light off-road riding.

Some things to consider before buying:

Pros: Affordable price, premium build, tubeless tyres and great design.

Cons: Headlight illumination can be low, mileage is average and not so good for tough off-road.

Who is this bike for: This is for those who want a stylish and comfortable bike that is perfect for city, highway and light off-road riding.

After the launch, take a test ride and check with the dealership about finance offers. Triumph has more than 100 service centers in India.

Note: This information is based on leaked news. Wait for Triumph’s official announcement for the actual price and features.
