In 2025, both these brands are preparing to launch many new SUVs, including electric and conventional engine vehicles. 1) Tata Harrier EV

The Tata Harrier EV was showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo, and is planned to be launched in June 2025. This electric SUV will be based on Tata’s Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture, which is an electric version of the OMEGA-Arc platform. The company has said that this SUV will have a peak torque of 500 Nm, and it will also get a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

The Harrier EV will have a slightly different design from its petrol/diesel models, including a closed grille and newly designed alloy wheels. The vehicle is expected to offer a range of over 500 km. When launched, it will compete with vehicles like the Mahindra XEV 7e, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Hyundai Creta Electric. Expected price: Rs 20-25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Sierra EV

The Tata Sierra was showcased in its almost production-ready form at the 2025 Auto Expo. The SUV will be available in both electric and petrol/diesel variants, with the electric model likely to launch first. The Sierra EV will be launched in the second half of 2025.

The design will feature a closed front grille, new bumper and special alloy wheels. The cabin will get a triple-screen layout, Tata’s new 4-spoke steering wheel and premium interiors. The Sierra EV is expected to have a range of over 500 km, while the ICE model could get 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines. Expected price: Rs 22-28 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Punch Facelift

The Tata Punch received a feature update last year, and now its full facelift model is expected to launch by the end of 2025. It has been spotted during testing, showing a design inspired by the Punch EV. The new Punch could get an updated front grille, new headlamps and redesigned bumpers.

The interior will get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver display and better material quality. Engine options will be the same 1.2-litre petrol and CNG, which will come with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. Expected price: Rs 6.5-10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra XEV 7e

Mahindra will launch the electric version of its popular XUV700, the XEV 7e, in the second half of 2025. The SUV will be based on Mahindra’s INGLO electric platform, which is shared with the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The XEV 7e could get options of 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, which could offer a range of 450-500 kilometres.

The SUV will initially come in rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configurations, and will have a 6 or 7-seater layout. It will have a design similar to the XUV700, but with electric-specific changes such as a closed grille and new wheels. Expected price: Rs 22-27 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV (codenamed S240) will be an affordable electric SUV, which will be launched in 2025. It will be positioned below the XUV400 EV and will compete with models like the Tata Nexon EV, Kia Cieros EV. It will share its design with the ICE XUV 3XO but will get electric-specific changes like a closed grille and new bumpers.

The XUV 3XO EV could get a 34.5 kWh or 39.4 kWh battery pack that will offer a range of 350-400 km. This SUV will be a great option for those looking for an affordable electric vehicle. Expected price: Rs 15-18 lakh (ex-showroom).
